The Otoplasty is a surgery by which the ear deformities are solved. These can be from the total absence of the ear (Microtia) to simply a very notable projection of the ear due to the absence of the antihelix or the helix.
The most frequent Otoplasty is the surgery of detached ears (separated, prominent). This surgical procedure does not improve the patient’s hearing, but it does improve the shape of the ears.
In cases of hyperprojection of the ear, due to the absence of the helix or antihelix, the correction is achieved with surgery to reconstruct them. It is ideal to perform these procedures during childhood because the chances of the ear returning to its previous state are lower.
Small, strategically located incisions.
