Blepharoplasty or Eyelid Surgery is a procedure that is based on extracting fat, excess skin and drying the muscle of the upper and lower eyelids.
Blepharoplasty is performed to correct sagging and bags of the upper eyelids and bags of lower eyelids, thereby improving the appearance, and in some cases, the vision of the patient; however, the Blepharoplasty does not eliminate wrinkles or eyebrows drooping. This surgery can be performed alone or with other cosmetic surgery of the face, such as Cervicofacial Lifting or Front lifting.
This is an ambulatory procedure, that is, the patient does not require hospitalization.
Blepharoplasty of the upper eyelid consists of the removal of excess skin, and in some cases a portion of the underlying muscle. Some cases also require removing part of the internal fat pack, but always conservatively. For this surgery, incisions are made in the natural folds of the eyelid, which prevent the noticeability of the scars.
The lower Blepharoplasty is indicated to correct the bags in the lower eyelid and/or the sagging of the skin.
